Throughout our lives we are often compared to many things and our sincere desire is that these representations are vividly illustrated with positive images that flatter our actions, desires, and achievements. Godly men and women are likened in the Scriptures to sturdy trees and like the tree, Dr. Kenneth D. Phelps, from the pulpit stands straight for God to use him as a teacher, shepherd, and protector. A director of deliverance, this is a man who firmly believes in nurturing his flock by providing spiritual guidance and direction, to those willing to receive it. Amongst the congregation, he is known as mentor, friend, partner, and pastor. In times of delight or despair, he shines as a light of hope exemplifying the glory of God’s infinite wisdom through strong convictions and confidence in Christ. He exemplifies the verse “He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season” (Ps. 1:3).

Concord Missionary Baptist Church (CMBC) is the fertile valley in which Dr. Kenneth D. Phelps thrives and grows in grace. He confessed Christ at an early age, licensed to preach in November 1990, and ordained as a Minister of the Gospel in May 1994. His life-long relationship and devotion to the Lord manifested itself in Dr. Phelps being elevated to the position of a pastor. He received and accepted the call to pastor CMBC on December 19, 1994.

Dr. Phelps is also owner and CEO of IMANI Faith Productions, Inc., which is a faith based media production company. Additionally, Dr. Phelps is the founder / CEO of Concord Community Organization, which is a non-for profit 501c3 organization designed to bring peace to Woodlawn community in Chicago, IL.

Not only is Dr. Phelps an accomplished minister of the gospel, but he has been employed with the Lexis Nexis company for twenty-eight years. He is currently employed as a Lead Field Systems Engineer where he is responsible for leading the Midwest U.S. and Southern U.S. team of Field Systems Engineers.

Married for thirty-two years to Veneeta B. Phelps, Dr. Kenneth D. Phelps is the father of three beautiful children who are his pride and joy: Kenneth, Morgan, and David. He is a grandfather to Kalissa Destiny Harlan and Adriel Harlan.

Dr. Phelps holds a B.A. in Computer Information Systems from Wartburg College, a Master of Divinity, and a Doctorate of Ministry degree from Northern Baptist Theological Seminary.
