 Ecclesiastes 4:9–10

Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour.

For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up.

Proverbs 27:17

“Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.”

A friend is someone who knows all about you and still loves you.

  • They know your secrets and your imperfections and they still love you.

My grandmother, Mother Eleanor Keys, was right when she said, “Friends are few and far between. If you have one good friend in your life, consider yourself fortunate.”

Concerning friendship, Dutch Catholic priest, theologian and writer, Henry Nouwen, once said,

When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives mean the most to us, we often find that it is those who, instead of giving advice, solutions, or cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a warm and tender hand. The friend who can be silent with us in a moment of despair or confusion, who can stay with us in an hour of grief and bereavement, who can tolerate not knowing, not curing, not healing and face with us the reality of our powerlessness, that is a friend![i]

Friends are a not only our life companions.  They are a blessing from God.  Why don’t take a moment today and find a way be a blessing to your blessing!  Perhaps a random act of kindness or a just because blessing as an expression of unconditional love or gratitude for loving you in spite of you!

Have a great day!
